Canada, the US, and Mexico have an interesting and related past. Historically, North America was dominated by the British, Spanish, and French empires competing for land while either tolerating or massacring the Natives. The US rebelled first, becoming independent from England and long hoping to take Canada as well, ultimately without success. Mexico became independent from Spain, but would lose about half its territory to the US. Currently, the US-Canadian border is considered to be the friendliest border in the world.
